Many years ago Molly Petty was my agent. As a teen model for boys wear photos for Eatons catalogues I was making a hundred or more a week for a good part of the year It was more than my Dad made as a factory foreman. Of course it went for good stuff like a Triumph motorcyle. Interestingly enough I also went to school with Dean Peterson's daughter Gail (Humberside) and remember her home down on the west side of Grenadier Pond in Swansea. Thanks for the reminder of those good times! Continued success with your career Dini

Just got back from Brandon and the Western Canadian Music Awards. Young Ali Milner is indeed the real deal - I saw her in a ghastly bar where too many people yelled, shouted, played pool, played the fool, and general acted like yobs. And while Ms. Milner didn't (couldn't!) overcome the racket, she played a solid set, and the handful of folk who were listening agreed she's a name to remember and a talent to listen to. Keyboard chops to burn, a distinctive voice, damn good songs, and a couple of neat and unexpected covers.

She was certainly the best artist I heard - except Romi Mayes (with whom I have long been in love) and Dublin to Delhi, a smashing cross-cultural mix between south Asian and Celtic music.

Hey Bob
I agree with you on the fail of the week. Could not believe that he could actually get up there and do this to Taylor Swift and think nothing of how it would make her feel or care.Bad move really bad. Beyonce may be good but this was totally out of line, just confirms for me another reason why I don't care about this type of music and what it represents.
Bob I love the Queens of the Industry columns
Have been a fan of Dini Petty since her days in the Pink Helicopter. Dini if you are reading this thanks for sharing your advice on the Nutrafem. For those trying to get through a rather difficult time in life and from what I am told it could go on for years this is such valuable advice.. you know the saying, laptop $1500. , internet sevice $45.00 time spent reading on Bob's DBAWIS priceless!!

Groomer here......Since moving to Vancouver, I have lost touch with Dini Petty. Loved her 20 Answers! I started at CityTv in Jan 1980 as Floor Director for CityPulse News. One of the tasks that I did not enjoy was cleaning the Weather Board after the 6 & 10pm newscasts. This was before fancy character generators & even green screen. The liquid used to erase the grease pencil used on the board is still burning my nose hairs & the skin on my hands will never recover! ;o) This was before gloves too!
Anyway, great memories & always lots of laughs with Dini!
PS Dini's sidekick, Gord Martineau is responsible for another of the nicknames I received at CityTv - "FailSafe".
