Copyright Stirs Lively Ottawa House Debate

by David on December 4, 2009

During Question Period on December 1, 2009, NDP MP Charlie Angus raised concerns with Industry Minister Tony Clement relating to ACTA (Anti-Counterfeiting Trade Agreement) and its non-transparent nature. Based upon leaked ACTA documents, it appears that once implemented ACTA will circumvent domestic copyright policy thus bringing into question the relevance of the Government’s public consultations on copyright reform this past summer.

My favourite part is when they admit that Canadians should go and read Michael Geist for information on the ACTA, because apparently we shouldn’t expect any from our elected officials… Sad.
