Daniel Lanois, recently recovered from a motorcycle accident and completing work on a Neil Young album, Â is also getting set to release an album of his own with his band, Black Dub band. The Daniel Lanois album is set for release on Jive Records on Nov. 2 (videos of session below, plus free download details).
Mostly recorded live off the floor, the sessions feature Lanois on guitar with Trixie Whitley on vocals, Brian Blade on drums and Daryl Johnson on bass.
Lanois told Rolling Stone, “I had been fantasizing about putting a band together for a long time that would allow me to write music with a funkier angle. I’ve also had a fascination with Jamaican dub music.” The album went so well that the group are reportedly already talking about album No. 2.
