EMI Music Canada and Distribution Fusion III Inc. have announced a strategic partnership that targets growth, customer service and enhancement to artist and label services.
The new arrangement starts August 1. At this point, EMI will assume digital and physical product fulfillment responsibilities for Fusion’s new release and catalogue business nationwide. Other services include warehousing, invoicing and sales related admin support. EMI will also provide TV/Film master synchronization and music placement services for Fusion, as well as office space in Toronto.
Fusion will continue to focus on product management, sales, marketing/promotion and publicity for its varied roster of distributed labels. EMI’s role is to augment all services currently being provided by Fusion to their business partners. This includes reinforcing Fusion’s existing sales team. This arrangement allows for greater coverage of retail accounts, consolidated shipments and overall improved delivery to clients.
The further development of Fusion’s digital and mobile business will also play an important role in this union. In the future Fusion has the option to access EMI’s distribution network outside of Canada on a label basis or for artist upstreaming.
These two companies first forged a strong relationship last year when Montreal-based Fusion began representing EMI’s French repertoire in Canada, . As the development of Canadian talent continues to be a priority for both, another primary focus of this arrangement is to create joint venture record deals which foster the progression of Canadian artists locally and abroad.
As Jim West, President of Distribution Fusion III says, “We are very proud to be working with Deane Cameron and his staff at EMI Music Canada. The opportunities and synergies derived from this alliance will be of great benefit to both parties. We are looking forward to many great years of business together in both the physical and digital worlds.”
Deane Cameron, President of EMI Music Canada adds, “EMI Music Canada is thrilled to be involved with Distribution Fusion III Inc. and its related labels. The Wests have long since been a powerful force in the Canadian independent music business where they have an impressive track record. This is a long term multi-faceted deal which will benefit the two companies involved, along with many local and international labels and the Canadian artist community.”
