HeavyD Korn Chips offers free homegrown downloads

Over 100 Canadian acts have donated tracks for the  the launch of a national online music promotion tied in with BC-based HevyD’s Kettle Korn chips. The way the promotion works is each bag of the ‘korn’ chips includes a code offering 20 free downloads, and the company plans a minimum of 15 separate code insertions per year.

In return for donating a free track, the HevyDmusic.com website gives artists high profile space to promote themselves and consumers the chance to legally and safely download top songs. Company president Barry Stecyk is canvassing acts across North America but has restricted the launch to Canadian acts. He’s up-front about the benefits of the promotion: “”We are doing this for  the love of music. The website is non profit for us, but its popularity will help guarantee people will notice and buy HevyD’s Kettle Korn.”

Company spokesperson Bobbi Menard further explains: “Each single from each artist will be included in one million bags of HevyD’s Kettle Korn. We will be releasing a minimum of 300 downloads per year, which is one per artist.  We currently have almost 100 artists and are looking for more.

The artists have no cost beyond the donation of the single, we pay for the website, and promotion of the website.  The founder of HevyD’s Kettle Korn has set up HevyDmusic.com to be not for profit for himself, (and)we take no cut from any artist.”

Continuing: “We’ve created an environment where each artist has their own page for their own promotion and exclusive marketing. It is all about artist/song/album promotion. We have another area of the website dedicated to exclusive artist videos and performance videos. Plus yellow pages of industry links.”

A complete list of artists involved in the promotion can be viewed here.
