In a departure from the US, Sony BMG Canada is not giving Wal-Mart and Sam’s Club exclusives on the Oct. 21 album release of AC/DC‘s Black Ice.
Columbia Canada representative Sean Cordner confirmed the fact today, noting the album’s release will be available “at all fine retailers across Canada”.
Black Ice will be sold in the US exclusively at Wal-Mart and Sam’s Club retail locations at the almost giveaway price of $11.88.
The album is the first for Columbia and the first album of new material in eight years,  produced by Brendan O’Brien and recorded earlier this year at the Warehouse Studio in Vancouver.
The first single, “Rock ‘N’ Roll Train”, is scheduled to arrive at radio Aug. 28 with a video debuting the month following.
No Bull: The Director’s Cut, a newly edited two-plus hour expanded DVD edition of AC/DC’s performance at Madrid’s Plaza de Toros de Las Ventas in ’96, will be released on Sept. 9.
The Young brothers will embark on a major world tour, the group’s first since 2001, beginning late October. No dates have been released as yet.
