Robert Plant, just off the road with Betty LaVette, is weeks from releasing his first album since his 2007 collaboration with Alison Krauss. The Rounder Records album, scheduled for release on Sept. 14, is prefaced by the release of a music video for Angel Dance, a Los Lobos cover that open’s Plant’s forthcoming Band of Joy project.
With Zeppelin album sales topping 100 million in the US alone, and Plant’s combined solo, Honeydrippers and Kraus duo projects totalling another five-million plus, the odds this is an album that can put some cash in the till for retailers online and on main street.
