Sedun Back Home As Head of EMI Publishing

EMI Music Publishing has done a complete 180 today, announcing Barbara Sedun as the head of its largely truncated Canadian business operation. Formerly with the publishing giant as number two behind Michael McCarty, Sedun moved in December of 2007, after 16 years with the Canadian arm, to take a position in Winnipeg as Manager of Music Programs at Manitoba Film and Music. The appointment is effective immediately.
Sedun will play a key creative role in EMI Music Publishing’s North American creative operations, and will work closely with A&R teams on both the East and West Coast. She will report to President of West Coast Creative Big Jon Platt, a company press release stated.

Platt commented: “We couldn’t have found a better leader for our efforts in Canada than Barbara Sedun. She knows the company inside and out, she’s respected by songwriters and executives alike, and she’ll be a real asset as we look to develop our Canadian business over the coming years.”

Sedun said: “The opportunity to return to lead an office that has been so central to my career was one that I just couldn’t turn down. EMI Music Publishing has always placed great emphasis on Canadian talent, and I look forward to continuing to help ensure that we find, develop and nurture the best songwriters that the country has to offer.”
