More details about how the government plans to roll out these initiatives are expected to be announced later this year. The Liberals said they are open to a review of foreign ownership rules provided that it does not place Canadian cultural protections at risk. The New Democratic Party is strongly opposed to the move, arguing the proposal does put Canadian culture at risk because of the overlap between telecommunications and broadcasting.
