A total of 22 different artists are up for awards in 14 different categories at the seventh annual Western Canadian Music Industry Awards, which takes place tonight at the Manitoba Centennial Auditorium in Brandon.
The show will be hosted by musicians Tim Tamashiro (the host of Tonic on CBC Radio 2) and Andrea Menard. Scheduled performers include Romi Mayes, the Sheepdogs, Paramedic, Souls in Rhythm, Record of the Week Club, Allez Ouest, Dan Mangan, Delhi 2 Dublin, Gordie Tentrees, Hey Ocean!, Library Voices, the Twisters, Trio Accord and 2009 Hall of Fame inductee Loreena McKennitt. Unfortunately, there are no radio or TV feeds of the WCMAs this year.
Preceding tonight’s main event, The WCMA Awards Brunch, which honoured the industry award winners, was held Saturday, September 19 at the Brandon Canad Inns. with Hall of Fame inductee Loreena McKennitt interviewed on stage by Richard Flohil as part of the gala event. The complete list of winners is as follows:

ABOUT THE AWARDS:
The Western Canadian Music Awards is well-known as western Canada’s largest music festival and awards ceremony. The WCMA is made up of five Industry Associations: Alberta Music, Manitoba Music, Music BC, Music Yukon and SaskMusic.
Brandon’s Centennial Auditorium will host the WCMA Awards Gala on Sunday evening, September 20 – the pinnacle of the four day festival.
The WCMA weekend kicked off Thursday, September 17 with the annual Brandon University “Rock the Block” street party. On Friday and Saturday, 50-plus bands performed, or will perform, at seven of Brandon’s top venues. At the same time, 400 music industry professionals and artists are attending the WCMA conference at Brandon’s Canad Inns and Keystone Centre.
